This project is a new rural house located in Riverstick, County Cork. The client’s aspiration is to create a modern reinterpretation of a farm cottage. The massing of the dwelling is conceived as two simple pitched roof volumes which slide past each other. Separating the two volumes is a double height space that ties together all the rooms in the house.
Glazed entrance doors on either side of the main artery circulation space provides a visual connection to the outside. Sloped ceiling, clear storey glazing and double height volume in the living area enhances the sense of space.
The living accommodation on the ground floor opens towards the East with three glazed panels that slide open to provide extended internal/external living accommodation.
