CWA is delighted to be appointed to develop design proposals for the renewal of an existing bungalow in Kinsale. Proposals include the re-organisation of the ground floor to create a series of large open plan living spaces and the construction of a new lightweight first floor.

The design is based around a new folded wrap, which is folded aroudn the existing house to both enclose the new first floor and increase the thermal performance of the retained sections of the existing house. The wrap is clad in slate and echoes the vernacular vertical slate clad architecture of Kinsale. Judicious positioned openings are cut in the folded slate wrap to capture views over Kinsale and down to the sea.
